Luxury Wedding Photography

New Zealand & Across the Globe

Some photographers capture what happened. I photograph how it felt.

You are not looking for just beautiful photographs.

You want images that hold feeling, the quiet anticipation before the ceremony, the way your hands find each other, the laughter, the tenderness, the details you won’t notice until years later.

I’m a fine artist and wedding photographer with over a decade behind the lens. I photograph the way I paint, with patience, attention, and an eye for the moments that happen between the posed ones. The result is imagery that feels like memory, art, and legacy, all at once.

FOR EVERY KIND OF WEDDING

From quiet, intimate ceremonies to full celebrations, each one photographed with the same care.

For the couple who wants their wedding day to feel like art.

Whether your day is quiet and close, or beautifully layered with family, tradition, and ceremony — I bring the same unhurried attention to both. I'm looking for the in-between moments, the quiet details, the light falling in a way it never will again.

Your wedding photographs should not simply show how everything looked.

They should remind you how it felt.

behind the lens

Val Meyer

I'm a fine artist and wedding photographer based in Auckland, formally trained in visual communication and oil painting, and drawn to the kind of imagery that carries weight long after the day is over.

My work is romantic, refined, and emotionally observant. I'm drawn to the in-between moments, the quiet gestures, the beautiful imperfections, and the depth beneath the surface.

With over a decade of experience photographing weddings and a practice in oil painting, I create imagery that feels less like a record of events and more like a memory you can hold.

ADVENTURE, PURPOSE, and ARTISTRY

I believe a wedding photograph should do more than document; it should feel like the day itself. The nervous anticipation before. The way light moved through a window. The look exchanged across a room full of people.

I'm drawn to what happens between the posed moments, the spontaneous, the tender, the unrepeatable. My background as a fine artist shapes the way I see: I'm looking for composition, light, and emotional truth. I photograph the way I paint, with patience, attention, and an eye for what matters most.

Fine Art

Photography and painting are, for me, two expressions of the same eye. Both are about looking carefully, at light, at form, at the quiet significance of a moment.

My oil paintings have been featured in Art Herstory Magazine and my painting practice shapes everything about how I see through a lens. Some couples choose to take that connection further, commissioning an original oil painting from their wedding photographs. A work painted by hand on archival linen. Something that will outlast a framed print by generations.
